If hiccups appear in chemotherapy of rectal cancer with oxaliplatin, medication such as metoclopramide and palonosetron can be given, acupuncture and other traditional Chinese medicine methods, nerve block and other local surgical treatments. Hiccups in rectal cancer with oxaliplatin belongs to the gastrointestinal side effects caused by chemotherapy drugs, and the following therapeutic measures can be taken according to the different degrees of hiccups in clinic. 1. Metoclopramide, palonosetron, mosapride, methylphenidate and other drugs are commonly used in clinic for treating hiccups of various degrees. 2. Acupuncture and moxibustion can be used to treat hiccups, along with medication for moderate or severe hiccups. 3. For severe hiccups, if the above treatments are ineffective, surgical treatment with phrenic nerve block can be considered.
