Prostatic hyperplasia belongs to the category of retention of urine in traditional Chinese medicine (urine dribbling or not being able to urinate). Andrographis plus Xia Gu Cao may have some alleviating effect on patients with retention of urine in the case of dampness-heat, but the effect is limited, and it is recommended to use it in accordance with the doctor’s instructions.
Dengbashi has the efficacy of dispelling wind and inducing dampness, relieving cough and resolving phlegm, activating blood circulation, and can be used to treat rheumatic paralysis, jaundice hepatitis, gonorrhea, cough and hemoptysis of pulmonary tuberculosis, pain of peptic ulcers, amenorrhea, bruises, and sores and boils.
Xia Gu Cao has the effects of clearing liver and fire, brightening eyes, dispersing knots and swelling, and can be used for the treatment of eye redness and swelling, eyeball night pain, headache and dizziness, scrofula (mainly refers to the cervical lymph nodes tuberculosis), gall tumors (equivalent to the thyroid gland tumors), carbuncle (the redness, swelling and pain of breasts and the milk is not discharged well, and ultimately formed a suppurative disease), and breast distension and pain. Caution should be exercised if the spleen and stomach are weak.
Adverse effects of Penetrating Stone and Xia Gu Cao are not known. It may be of some relief to patients with retention of urine accompanied by bitter mouth and sticky mucus, depression, or excessive irritability, and short and red urine (small amount of urine with dark yellow color) with burning. If there is a need for medication, it is recommended to use it under the guidance of a professional physician, not blindly self-medication.
