Estrogen, a woman’s lifelong companion

The term estrogen is not new to people, but it may not be possible for everyone to tell us everything about it. Let’s follow the explanation and get a comprehensive understanding of this life-changing hormone that affects women throughout their lives and see what role it can play. Body shape: The growth of flesh in the waist and abdomen may be caused by estrogen deficiency. Ms. Yang just entered the age of 45 and found that her body began to slowly lose shape, especially her waist and stomach kept growing flesh. “I eat the same as usual, and I’m always active, how can I still gain weight?” Ms. Yang was puzzled. In fact, the “pear-shaped body” of middle-aged women may not be caused by diet, but by estrogen deficiency. Every woman aspires to a figure with large breasts and a thin waist, and the regulation of body shape and physique is all dependent on estrogen in action. Estrogen is a pretty good “commander”, it will make the fat distribution in the place where it should be distributed, such as breasts and hips, but definitely not in the abdomen. Once the estrogen is out of balance, the “commander” is out of order, and fat will take advantage of the opportunity to run to the waist and abdomen, making people gradually become a pear-shaped body. Skin: Estrogen is the most natural cosmetic. A teenage girl does not use any cosmetics, the skin is better than a middle-aged woman of 50 years old. We often say that a woman’s skin becomes better when she starts to fall in love. In fact, it is not only “the spirit of happiness”, it is also related to estrogen, which will increase during the relationship. Heart: Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of older women. Estrogen also has an effect on cardiovascular cells by changing the composition of blood lipids, raising “good cholesterol” levels and lowering “bad cholesterol” levels. Before the age of 50, the incidence of cardiovascular disease in women is much lower than in men, but after menopause, the incidence of cardiovascular disease in women increases rapidly. Breast cancer or cervical cancer is the most common concern, but the number one killer of older women is actually cardiovascular disease, which is closely related to estrogen deficiency. Brain: Women suffer from Alzheimer’s disease at a much higher rate than men. Estrogen also affects the structure of the brain. When studying as a child, girls generally do better than boys because they are more attentive. In old age, the incidence of Alzheimer’s disease is much higher in women than in men, and this is due to estrogen deficiency. Bone: Estrogen is the “bone security”. Like all tissues, bones are constantly undergoing the metabolic process of bone formation and bone loss. When bone formation is greater than bone loss, bones can accumulate and grow; conversely, when bone loss is greater than bone formation, bone loss leads to osteoporosis. The main function of estrogen is to inhibit bone loss and promote intestinal calcium absorption. When estrogen declines or is deficient, bone loss increases and bone formation decreases, leading to osteoporosis. When you are young, you store more calcium in your “bone bank”. Even if you lose it in old age, the remaining bone mass will remain within a healthy range.
