What to do with a baby at 37.5 degrees

An infant’s 37.5 degrees may be due to an elevated body temperature caused by the environment, or it may be due to respiratory infections and other causes of fever that require general treatment and medication if necessary.
1. Environmental causes: It is generally recognized that an infant’s temperature of 37~37.5 degrees may be caused by the infant being overdressed or in a hot, closed environment (room, car, etc.).
If the infant shows no other signs of physical infection, it is recommended to remove some clothing or bedding and sleep with only a sheet or thin cover over it. If the temperature drops, then no other treatment is needed.
2. Respiratory infections: When an infant has a respiratory infection, which can be characterized by profuse sweating, runny nose, sneezing or coughing, loss of appetite or refusal of multiple feedings, vomiting or diarrhea, it is necessary to measure the temperature of the armpits every 4 hours and promptly use physical cooling methods such as lukewarm baths, cold compresses on the forehead, and other methods of reducing the temperature.
When the fever exceeds 38.5 degrees, you can cooperate with the doctor to use ibuprofen, acetaminophen, etc. to reduce fever.
If the infant’s fever does not subside after treatment in the above ways, he/she should consult a doctor in time to clarify the cause of the illness and be treated under the guidance of a doctor.
