Can breastfeeding moms drink coffee?

Nursing mothers should avoid drinking coffee, which may affect lactation as well as the sleep of infants and young children, and may even lead to neurodevelopmental abnormalities and so on.
According to China’s dietary guidelines for breastfeeding women, breastfeeding mothers need to increase the intake of milk and drink more soup; increase the intake of fish, poultry, eggs, lean meat and other appropriate supplemental proteins; avoid tobacco and alcohol, and avoid drinking strong tea and coffee. Therefore, nursing mothers should avoid drinking coffee.
If breastfeeding mothers drink too much coffee, may make the body estrogen level drop, may affect the lactation function of the breast. In addition, the caffeine contained in coffee may enter the fetus through breast milk, which may make infants and young children nervous excitement, affecting sleep, and may lead to abnormal neurodevelopment if consumed in large quantities over a long period of time.
It is recommended that breastfeeding mothers should have a reasonable diet, should avoid drinking coffee, and have appropriate scientific activities and exercise.
