Glibenclamide has been found to have effects on the cardiovascular system, especially in patients with pre-existing cardiovascular disease, and may block the cardioprotective effects of myocardial ischemic preadaptation.
Glibenclamide tablets work primarily by increasing portal insulin levels or by direct action on the liver, thereby inhibiting the breakdown of hepatic glycogen and gluconeogenesis in the liver, leading to a decrease in the production and output of glucose in the liver.
