What is a noma?

Noma is a condition in which the child’s spleen and stomach functions are impaired as a result of inappropriate feeding by parents, or in which the child’s spleen and stomach functions are weak, leading to malfunctions in transport and digestion and depletion of qi and fluids, resulting in the child’s appearance of dryness and thinness. Noma is usually caused by a variety of chronic diseases, the most common of which is spleen noma, which is characterized by yellowish skin, a large head and thin neck, thinning and yellowish hair, an enlarged abdomen with exposed veins or a concave abdomen, a lack of color, delayed development, depression or irritability, poor sleep, night sweats at night, and loose or dry stools that are foul-smelling. Parents are advised to take their children to a regular Chinese medicine hospital for treatment of chancre, where the doctor can give them symptomatic Chinese medicine according to their clinical manifestations or treat them with pediatric tuina, which can improve the above symptoms and promote their normal growth and development.
