Self-care of dry syndrome

Dry syndrome is a systemic autoimmune disease, mainly involving exocrine glands, typically manifesting as dryness of the mouth and eyes, but also involving other organs outside the glands, and showing symptoms of multisystem damage. Dry syndrome is a chronic disease with various clinical manifestations, and most patients have a good prognosis. At present, there is no definite drug to change the course of the disease, but the main measures are to improve the symptoms, control and delay the progress of tissue and organ damage caused by immune response, and prevent secondary infection. Patients should strengthen the care in daily life and pay attention to the regulation of lifestyle, which can effectively relieve the troubles brought by the disease. 1.Oral care and treatment of dry mouth For patients with dry mouth, they should avoid smoking and drinking alcohol, avoid taking drugs that aggravate dry mouth such as atropine, phenothiazine, tricyclic antidepressants, antispasmodic drugs, antiparkinsonian drugs, and avoid long-term application of H2 receptor blocking drugs including cimetidine, ranitidine and famotidine. Pay attention to oral hygiene and oral care, always use toothpicks to remove food residues after meals, and rinse your mouth regularly to reduce dental caries and oral secondary infections. When oral ulcers occur, first scrub the area with saline cotton ball, then use 5% metronidazole, avoid using nail violet, so as not to aggravate the symptoms of oral dryness. 2, eye care and treatment of dry eyes should try to avoid the application of agents that reduce tear secretion such as diuretics, antihypertensives and antidepressants. The use of artificial tears (sodium vitreous acid) drops and improvement of the environment (such as the use of humidifiers) can relieve the symptoms of dry eyes, the use of chrysin ointment, Rinso drops can protect the cornea, reduce corneal damage and discomfort, and reduce the chance of infection. In case of corneal ulcers, eye repair and boric acid ointment are recommended. 3, skin care For dry, flaky and itchy skin caused by sweat gland involvement, use less or no alkaline soap, and use neutral soap. You can use compound glycerin anti-itch milk, vitamin E milk and commercially available lotion, etc. have a very good role in protecting the skin. Change your clothes and bedding regularly to keep your skin clean. If primary dry syndrome has skin lesions, the skin should be cleaned and changed according to the skin lesions, and antibiotics can be used appropriately in case of infection. If you have dry and itchy vagina and burning pain during intercourse, you should pay attention to pubic hygiene, and use cleansing lotion or lubricant such as glycerin and castor oil appropriately. 4. Respiratory care Keeping the humidity in the room at 50%~60% and the temperature at 18~21°C can relieve the dry cough caused by dry respiratory mucosa and prevent infection. Nebulized inhalation can be done for patients with sticky sputum that is difficult to cough up. If necessary, antibiotics and chymotrypsin can be added to control infection and promote sputum excretion.
