What to do to prepare for a breast MRI

The breast MRI program is the most common method of adjuvant breast examination, mainly used to judge the benignity and malignancy of breast tumors, or as a pre-operative or pre-chemotherapy evaluation program, etc. It usually requires the following preparations: 1. Examination time, try to avoid examination before menstruation, because the breast tissue will be congested as well as edematous before menstruation, and the local blood flow is relatively rich, so the blood flow signal is relatively good and easy to interfere with the normal results. Breast MRI, especially enhanced MRI, is not recommended during pregnancy because the contrast agent used may affect the fetus. 2. Breast MRI requires a prior appointment for the examination. The first is to go to the nurse’s station or pharmacy to receive the contrast agent and bring it to the MRI studio to complete the preoperative preparation; 3. During the examination, no decorations should be worn, especially metal decorations, which may cause false images during the MRI and then cause wrong evaluation of the results, so the decorations need to be removed from the patient’s body before the examination; 4. When performing breast enhancement MRI, individual patients may be allergic to the contrast agent, so they need to inform the doctor and deal with it in time to avoid life-threatening situations.
