What to take for migraines in the elderly

Elderly migraine can be treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), opioids and ergot drugs under the guidance of a doctor. 1. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs: common drugs include ibuprofen, aspirin and diclofenac. 2. Opioids: common drugs are pethidine, but generally easy to become addictive after taking, clinical not recommended for routine treatment. 3. Ergot drugs: such as nicergoline tablets. Also available are amitriptyline, gabapentin, propranolol, flunarizine hydrochloride capsules and other drugs, which can be used as preventive medication for migraine. Migraine patients should follow the doctor’s instructions, full amount, full course of medication, avoid self-medication, if vomiting occurs, but also can take metoclopramide and other antiemetic treatment.
