Incomplete cauda equina injury symptoms

Patients with incomplete cauda equina injury may experience localized numbness and pain in the sacrococcygeal area and have difficulty bending over. Some patients may also experience numbness and pain in the dorsum of the foot, the outer edge of the dorsum of the foot, and the palm of the foot, limited functional movement of the ankle joint, and decreased muscle strength in the lower extremities. Some patients may have pathological reflexes in the lower limbs, such as hyperactive or absent knee reflexes and Achilles tendon reflexes, which can be clearly diagnosed by electromyography. For treatment, the patient should lie flat on a hard bed, while the lumbar region should be fixed with a brace to maintain the stability of the lumbar joints and avoid repeated external stimulation of the cauda equina nerve, and apply a blood-activating and pain-relieving cream, or assist with acupuncture, moxibustion and orthopedic fumigation.
