What causes leg and hand cramps

Leg and hand cramps are also known as violent spasms in the muscles of the limbs. Cramps in the legs and hands may be caused by cold, calcium deficiency, localized pressure, muscle strain and other factors. Patients with leg and hand cramps should go to the hospital in time to find out the cause.
1. Cold: when the patient is in the environment of low temperature or sleeping at night when the limbs are exposed, it will lead to local muscle cold, which will cause muscle spasm.
2. Calcium deficiency: Calcium ions play an important role in muscle contraction. When the body lacks calcium, the excitability of muscles will increase, which will cause severe muscle spasm, thus causing the symptoms of leg and hand cramps.
3. Localized compression: patients with improper sleeping position, standing for a long time will make the muscles of the legs and hands for a long time in a state of compression, which will cause transient ischemia of the muscles, thus causing cramps in the legs and hands.
4. Chronic strain: patients usually too much load on the legs and hands, the muscle load is too heavy to get enough rest, will cause excessive accumulation of muscle metabolites, resulting in symptoms of leg and hand cramps.
When leg and hand cramps, patients should change the posture of the limbs, reduce muscle compression, while slight activities, massage limbs to relieve symptoms. Patients with severe leg and hand cramps should go to the hospital in time, under the guidance of the doctor for treatment.
