Swelling of the back of the left foot may be commonly due to lymphedema, but also due to idiopathic edema, venous thrombosis of the lower extremities and other causes.
1. Lymphedema: lymphedema is generally caused by the obstruction of lymphatic fluid return in the body parts, when the tissue fluid in the body surface infection, it is more likely to cause liposclerosis, skin thickening, connective tissue hyperplasia, so the dorsum of the foot will appear the symptoms of swelling, such as filariasis, left lower limb dengue (acute infectious disease, the skin can be seen to be red like paint) and so on.
2. Idiopathic edema: Idiopathic edema is more common in life, if the patient is standing for a long time, or excessive salt intake, it may also cause dorsum of the foot to swell, usually after resting, it can be gradually relieved.
3. Lower extremity venous thrombosis: If the patient suffers from lower extremity venous thrombosis, it may affect the venous blood return of the lower extremity, resulting in swelling of the extremities, pain and other uncomfortable symptoms, so the patient’s dorsal swelling may also be caused by lower extremity venous thrombosis.
It is suggested that patients can go to the hospital for a comprehensive examination to clarify the cause of the disease and then do the corresponding treatment.
