Symptoms of Acute Cholecystitis

Acute cholecystitis is an inflammation of the gallbladder caused by obstruction of the gallbladder duct and bacterial invasion, and its typical clinical features are paroxysmal colicky pain in the right upper abdomen, accompanied by obvious tenderness and abdominal muscle tonus, as follows:
1. Acute cholecystitis often manifests as persistent right upper abdominal pain, which may radiate to the right shoulder and back; fever is common, but the body temperature is mostly less than 38.5 degrees Celsius; abdominal muscle tension in the upper abdomen, Murphy’s sign is positive, or there is a mass in the right upper abdomen; nausea, vomiting, and so on.
2. A common cause of acute cholecystitis is overeating, especially after eating a lot of greasy food. In addition, burns and major surgery are also common triggers.
3. The general treatment of this disease includes fasting, intravenous rehydration, correction of electrolyte disorders, pain relief and antibiotic therapy. For recurrent acute cholecystitis with stones, surgical resection should be considered; for non-stone cholecystitis, cholecystectomy or cholecystostomy can be performed as appropriate after the condition improves.
Patients with acute cholecystitis should actively seek medical attention and standardized treatment.
