Vitamin B6 may be used in the treatment of ataxia.
Ataxia refers to motor clumsiness and incoordination caused by cerebellar, proprioceptive, and vestibular dysfunction, and can cause balance, posture, gait, and speech disorders when the trunk, limbs, and pharyngeal muscles are involved. It can be categorized into cerebellar ataxia, cerebral ataxia, sensory ataxia, and vestibular ataxia.
If the ataxia is caused by damage to the afferent fibers of the peripheral nerves, damage to the cerebellum itself and its afferent and/or efferent fibers, etc., then vitamin B6 can be taken to nourish the nerves and relieve the symptoms.
If ataxia occurs, one should seek medical attention in time to avoid delay. All medications should be used under medical supervision.
