Cholecystitis or biliary system diseases are often misdiagnosed as frozen shoulder or heart disease because of radiating pain that can cause pain under the ribs, right anterior chest and right upper back. Gallbladder stones and some chronic liver diseases can present with acute and chronic cholecystitis. Acute cholecystitis symptoms are obvious and painful and can cause acute abdominal symptoms. When the symptoms of cholecystitis are relieved, the back pain will then be relieved. There is also intercostal neuralgia that can cause pain in a fixed location in the back, mostly tingling, which can be relieved by itself and can be further identified by ultrasound.
