What is maculopathy

The macula is a normal structure of the eye, mainly located in the center of the retina, which is the main part of the eye that receives light perception. If there is a disease in this area, then macular degeneration is considered. There are more common types of macular diseases, such as macular degeneration, macular edema, macular anterior membrane, macular hemorrhage, macular cleft, central plasma chorioretinal disease, etc. The most advanced treatment is vitreous cavity injection with anti-VEGF drugs, which can have certain effect on some patients. The main cause of macular edema is due to various types of diseases in the eye, such as uveitis and retinal vein obstruction are the most common causes, and treatment of the primary disease with the use of anti-VEGF drugs is the main means. Most of these diseases are due to proliferative structures that appear with age. If the effect on vision is not obvious, temporary observation can be considered. Macular diseases are relatively complicated, but the treatment is relatively single, and most of them are very serious to vision damage, so early diagnosis and early treatment are necessary.
