Are strabismic eyes afraid of light?

Strabismus patients are prone to photophobia because of the imbalance in eye position. Strabismus is a condition in which the coordinated movement of the extraocular muscles is abnormal and the eye position is skewed, making it impossible for the patient to look at the same thing with both eyes at the same time. It can be categorized as congenital or acquired, and the patient is prone to symptoms such as restricted eye rotation, photophobia, visual fatigue and diplopia. Patients with strabismus are prone to habitual eye closure or squinting in bright light, and in severe cases, photophobia and tearing may occur. Photophobia is a symptom of strabismus, but photophobia does not necessarily indicate strabismus, but may be caused by conjunctivitis, keratitis, eye fatigue and other problems. It is recommended that patients with strabismus seek prompt medical attention to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
