Total cholesterol 5.36, how to treat

The normal range of serum total cholesterol is 2.8 to 5.2 mmol/L. Total cholesterol of 5.36 mmol/L is mildly high, and should be treated with a low-salt, low-fat diet, active exercise, and medication under the direction of a physician if necessary.
Dietary control. Patients with high total cholesterol should maintain a low-salt and low-fat diet, eat more fruits and vegetables, use olive oil and canola oil in cooking, avoid animal oil, and choose meat with low fat content, such as lean beef and carp.
Exercise. Patients with high total cholesterol should focus on aerobic exercise, such as jogging, hiking, cycling, etc., to improve cardiopulmonary function and control weight.
Lipid-lowering drugs. Patients with hypertension, diabetes mellitus and other underlying diseases should take atorvastatin calcium tablets, resuvastatin and other medications under the guidance of a doctor to lower lipids, and during the period of taking medication, blood lipids and liver and renal functions should be regularly rechecked.
Elevated total serum cholesterol should be treated under medical supervision.
