Can a 4-month-old baby eat fruit?

Four-month-old babies are generally not allowed to eat fruits. Exclusive breast milk or formula milk for infants within six months can satisfy all the fluids, energy and nutrients needed for their growth and development, and do not need additional supplemental water and other foods. Complementary foods are generally added after six months, following the principles of from less to more, from one to many, from soft to hard, from fine to coarse. Giving fruits to babies too early may increase the burden on babies’ digestion and kidneys, lead to babies’ taste preference for sweet flavors, affect eating, and may also induce allergies and other diseases. According to the principle of adding baby complementary food, it is recommended to start adding fruit as complementary food at the age of 6 months, 1-2 spoons per day, in the form of puree and paste, and then gradually transitioned to fruit particles and chunks. 4-month-old babies to ensure adequate amount of breast milk or formula can provide reasonable nutritional support, without the need to add additional food, parents need to avoid adding unsuitable foods to the baby too early to avoid adverse consequences.
