The modified ASHWORTH dystonia grading scale is categorized into grades 0 to 4, based on the increase in dystonia during passive movement of the affected limb and the presence or absence of resistance. Grade 0: There is no increase in muscle tone, and there is no resistance to passive movement of the affected limb throughout the range of motion. Grade 1: Slight increase in muscle tone and slight resistance to passive movement of the affected limb to the end of the range of motion. Grade 1+: muscle tone is slightly increased, there is a slight stuck feeling when the affected limb is passively moved in 1/2 of the range of motion, and there is a slight resistance in the latter 1/2 of the range of motion. Grade 2: mild increase in muscle tone, with resistance to passive movement of the affected limb in most of the range of motion, but still able to move. Grade 3: Moderate increase in muscle tone, with resistance to passive movement of the affected limb throughout the range of motion, and significant difficulty in moving the limb compared to before. Grade 4: Highly increased muscle tone, with stiffness of the affected limb, great resistance to movement, and great difficulty in passive movement. There are many factors affecting muscle tone, and muscle tone often changes dynamically, so care should be taken to ensure that the speed of passive movement is the same, the degree of evaluation is strictly standardized, and when evaluating again, the same time period and evaluation conditions should be chosen as much as possible. The modified ASHWORTH dystonia assessment is used, and it is recommended that the assessment be performed under the supervision of a physician.
