How long does it usually take for symptoms of lacunar infarction to clear up after treatment

How long it takes to eliminate the symptoms of lacunar infarction after treatment depends mainly on the severity of the brain infarction. The main causes of lacunar cerebral infarction are hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, etc. The treatment is based on controlling blood pressure, blood lipids, blood sugar, smoking cessation and other risk factors and antiplatelet therapy. In case of mild cerebral infarction, patients only show mild dizziness, and most of them can recover within 2 weeks after treatment, and their symptoms will reach improvement or cure. In case of severe cerebral infarction, such as cerebellar and brainstem infarction, patients can have symptoms such as dizziness and headache, nausea, vomiting, balance disorder, dysarthria, etc. They can also have nystagmus, diplopia, difficulty in swallowing, choking and coughing on drinking water, or even impaired consciousness and brain herniation. Most patients can have their symptoms reduced after taking active treatment, but they cannot achieve complete elimination and some sequelae will be left behind. In addition, patients with cavernous infarction should maintain good living habits, pay attention to low salt and low fat, light diet, quit smoking and limit alcohol, and exercise properly. At the same time, active and correct treatment should be given to minimize the formation and development of sequelae.
