Chinese medicine treatment of bile reflux gastritis

In recent years, gastroscopy findings are often seen in reports of chronic gastritis with bile reflux, and there is a gradual clinical trend of increasing the disease. Biliary reflux gastritis is caused by the reflux of bile and duodenal fluid into the stomach through the retrograde pylorus, stimulating the gastric mucosa and causing inflammatory changes in the gastric mucosa. The main manifestation is non-specific, often fullness and discomfort in the upper abdomen, or burning, or distension, which may be accompanied by acidity, belching, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, intestinal rumbling, poor bowel movements, or even wasting or bleeding. Bile reflux after anatomic variant of major gastrectomy should not be included in the discussion. Bile originally flows from the descending papilla of the duodenum, and if there is no blockage below the descending part, it should flow directly into the jejunum to help the body digest. What could cause bile to flow back up? Modern medicine believes that it is related to these reasons: there is a certain relationship with uncoordinated gastrointestinal peristalsis, including duodenal retroperistalsis, pyloric insufficiency, bile composition changes, etc. Chronic cholecystitis and gallbladder polyps can lead to biliary system dysfunction, which may be the basis of bile reflux gastritis. It should be said that the coordinated movement of this gallbladder, bile duct, duodenum, pylorus, stomach, jejunum and other organs is very complex and difficult to say clearly. The diagnosis is based on the bile fluid seen on gastroscopy. Treatment is mainly symptomatic, with suppression of gastric acid and flushing of gastric juice to protect the gastric mucosa, while promoting gastrointestinal peristalsis, which is often ineffective. Chinese medicine emphasizes the holistic concept and believes that this disease is mostly related to emotions, due to various kinds of stress, or too much thinking, resulting in liver qi stagnation, cross-reverse offending the stomach, treatment is mainly to regulate emotions, with a variety of methods to de-stress the liver and qi, often received very good results. There are many methods to regulate the liver and qi, including acupressure, massage, gua sha, needles, moxibustion, buried thread, Chinese medicine and so on. You can eat more food with the effect of liver and Qi, such as celery, chrysanthemum, tomatoes, radish, orange, grapefruit, citrus, citron, Buddha’s hand, etc.. You can also drink some flower tea such as, rose, jasmine, chrysanthemum, etc.
