What’s wrong with leukocytes +-?

Leukocytes +- are usually possible in routine urine tests, i.e. suspected positive, which may be caused by diseases such as urinary tract infection, prostatitis, nephritis, etc., or may be caused by vaginal secretions contaminating the urine sample.

Patients with urinary tract infections may be positive for bacteria and nitrites in addition to positive leukocytes, and may have symptoms such as urinary frequency, urgency, and painful urination. Patients with prostatitis are accompanied by dysuria, frequent urination, and urgency. Some patients with nephritis may also have positive leukocytes, and most of the patients will be combined with positive urinary protein, decreased urine specific gravity, and the appearance of various pathological tubular patterns.

Female patients who have not cleaned the vulva before the routine urine test may contaminate the urine sample with vaginal secretions, resulting in weakly positive leukocytes.

Leukocytes suspected positive patients need to be again to improve the routine urine examination, if necessary, urine culture, urinary ultrasound and other tests, to clarify the cause of the disease after targeted treatment.
