Mugwort has the efficacy of warming menstruation, stopping bleeding, dispersing cold and relieving pain. It is used in treating hematemesis, epistaxis, metrorrhagia (excessive menstrual flow or dribbling), excessive menstrual flow, fetal leakage (small amount of vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy), hyperemia, cold pain in the abdomen, dysmenorrhea and infertility in the uterus. Contraindication is that patients with Yin deficiency and Blood heat should use it with caution.
Pungent, bitter, warm; slightly toxic. Attributes to the liver, spleen and kidney meridians. Vinegar moxa charcoal warms menstruation and stops bleeding, and is used for deficiency cold bleeding.
