Five Signs of Early Stage Liver Cancer

Liver cancer, short for hepatocellular carcinoma, is the most common malignant tumor of the liver, and this disease mostly occurs in men aged 40-50. If symptoms such as loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, abdominal distension and continuous hidden pain in liver area occur, one needs to be alert to the early occurrence of liver cancer: 1. Pain in liver area: regular and continuous pain in right upper abdomen needs attention, usually pain in liver area is the first symptom of liver cancer, and the nature of pain can be dull pain, distension and so on. If the lesion invades the diaphragm, the pain may also involve the right shoulder or right back; 2. Jaundice: due to the damage of liver cells and the gradual enlargement of liver cancer mass to compress the bile duct, patients may develop jaundice, which mainly manifests as yellowing of skin and sclera, and some patients may have itchy skin; 3. Indigestion: some studies found that about 40% of liver disease patients think it is stomach disease in the early stage of the disease. The main digestive system changes of early liver cancer include loss of appetite, indigestion and fullness after meals; some patients may also have diarrhea, which is often mistaken for enteritis and miss the best treatment time; 4. Weight abnormalities: patients with recent rapid weight loss need to be alert to early stage of liver cancer. This symptom is mostly caused by the damage of liver cells, which leads to the change of body metabolism and the inability of nutrients to be fully utilized; 5. Abnormal bleeding: if there is long-term nasal and gum bleeding repeatedly, or gastrointestinal bleeding as black stool or vomiting blood, it may be a signal of early stage liver cancer. Because coagulation dysfunction easily occurs after liver function is impaired, black stool and vomiting blood may be the symptoms of liver cancer combined with cirrhosis. These symptoms are not characteristic symptoms of liver cancer, but can also be found in other diseases. Therefore, it is not necessary to be too nervous when having similar symptoms, and it is recommended to go to hospital for liver function, hepatobiliary, pancreatic and spleen ultrasound examinations to clarify whether there are abnormalities in liver function and structure.
