The difference between an ovarian cyst and an ovarian tumor

Ovarian cysts (e.g., corpus luteum cysts, follicular cysts) are a type of benign ovarian tumor. In the identification, the main difference between ovarian cysts and ovarian malignant tumors should be identified, and there are differences between the two in the course of the disease, signs, general condition and ultrasound examination. 1. Duration: Ovarian cysts have a longer duration and increase slowly; ovarian malignant tumors have a shorter duration and increase faster. 2. Signs: Ovarian cysts are mostly unilateral, good activity, cystic, smooth surface, often without abdominal fluid. Ovarian malignant tumors are mostly bilateral, poor mobility, solid or cystic nature, uneven surface, nodular. There is often fluid in the abdominal cavity, and most of them are bloody. 3. General condition: ovarian cysts are in good general condition, without malignant manifestations. Malignant tumors are often accompanied by cachexia, such as weight loss and anemia. 4. Ultrasonography: Ovarian cyst ultrasonography is mostly liquid dark area, which may have intervals of light bands and clear edges. Ultrasonography of malignant tumors can be seen in liquid dark area with disorganized light clusters, light spots, or cystic solidity, and the boundary of the mass is not clear.
