Can you use toothpaste for oil burns?

From a medical point of view, the use of toothpaste after oil burns is not recommended. This is because the use of toothpaste on scalded wounds can prevent the further distribution of residual heat, which can lead to further thermal damage to the tissues caused by the residual heat in the body. The correct approach is to use cold running water to continuously flush the burn wound or soak the affected area in ice water. Afterwards, care should be taken to avoid secondary injury to the wound and to protect the wound from contamination by applying a local scald cream. In addition, depending on the severity of the scald, it should be sent to the hospital for further treatment if necessary.
