Oral herpes is a herpes-like change in the mouth caused by the herpes simplex virus, which may break down and form ulcers and does not usually cause damage to the skin of the hands and feet. Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a herpetic change caused by coxsackievirus A16, and there are also blisters on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, as well as small blisters in the mouth that may break down and form ulcers, but there is a clear differential diagnosis from oral herpes simplex. So the two are not the same disease, they are not infected with the same type of virus. Therefore, if there are blistering changes in the hands, feet and mouth, consider hand, foot and mouth disease, while if there are no blistering changes in the palms or soles of the feet, but only blisters in the mouth, it is usually oral herpes with herpes virus infection.
