What is the cause of morning heel pain?

The majority of painful symptoms in the heel in the morning are heel pain disorders. These include heel spurs, inflammation of the heel metatarsal fascia, and heel fat pad injury. Most occur in older patients, with prolonged weight bearing and excessive walking being the main triggers, and degenerative changes can also exacerbate the patient’s pain symptoms to some extent. Patients may experience pain in the morning when the heel first hits the ground, which may gradually decrease after a period of walking, and then reappear and worsen after prolonged walking. Lateral and axial radiographs of the heel bone can reveal the presence of heel nodules and bony nodules, and the use of extracorporeal shock wave therapy and closed injection can rapidly improve the symptoms of heel pain when waking up in the morning. After standard treatment, the pain symptoms will be gradually relieved, but they are prone to recurrence.
