There is no way to self-replace a rib fracture that is misaligned, because the rib fracture site is surrounded by many ribs for support and the fracture site is relatively stable. As long as one rib fracture is dislocated and does not cause hemopneumothorax or lung damage, most of them can be treated conservatively with external fixation of the chest strap for protection without special repositioning. If there are multiple fractures of one rib with misalignment or multiple rib fractures with misalignment, even in this case there is no way to reset the rib by self-repositioning or manipulation and surgery is required to reset it. Therefore, it is important to clarify the type of rib fracture and not to perform self-repositioning blindly, otherwise it will easily lead to contusion of the thoracic organs at the fracture end, not achieving the purpose of repositioning and aggravating other injuries at the same time.
