Different people recover at different speeds. After minimally invasive varicose vein surgery, you should rest for about 14 days, and will usually be almost completely healed in 1-2 months.
The main problems after surgery are itching, blisters and ecchymosis. These conditions basically disappear after 14 days after surgery. Skin numbness is caused by nerve damage during surgery, nerve repair takes a long time, usually 1-2 months, no special treatment.
It is important to note that compression stockings should be worn during the day from the 2nd day after surgery and taken off at night when sleeping (they must be worn when getting out of bed). Long stockings (up to the base of the thigh) should be worn for at least 1 month, after 1 month, short stockings (up to the knee) can be worn.
After 3-5 days after the operation, you can take a shower after the dressing is torn off, don’t rub the incision hard, don’t put shower gel or soap on the incision.
Quit smoking, maintain a low-salt and low-fat diet, wear medical compression stockings regularly, and elevate your legs frequently to promote venous return. Avoid standing for a long time, sitting for a long time, and avoid lifting heavy objects.
