Rivaroxaban is a new-generation anticoagulant with fewer side effects, such as bleeding and abdominal pain, and is mainly used for the prevention and treatment of various thrombotic diseases in humans. Rivaroxaban is a bioavailable factor Xa inhibitor that selectively blocks the active site of factor Xa and does not require cofactors (e.g., antithrombin III) to exert its activity. Activation of factor X through endogenous and exogenous pathways is known as factor Xa (FXa), which plays an important role in the coagulation cascade. The most common side effects are bleeding, epigastric pain, dyspeptic toothache, retroperitoneal bleeding, increased transaminases, cholestasis, and hepatitis. It is contraindicated in patients with clinically significant active bleeding and in lesions or conditions with a significant risk of hemorrhage. Note that hypersensitivity to the components of the drug and pregnant and lactating women are also prohibited. Also this drug should be taken under medical supervision to avoid adverse reactions.
