Hippocampus is effective in warming the kidney and strengthening the yang, subduing swelling and dispersing lumps. It is used for kidney yang deficiency, spermatorrhea, impotence, obstruction in the abdomen (abdominal mass), scrofula (mainly refers to the neck lymph nodes tuberculosis), phlegm nuclei (subcutaneous lumps swollen like nuclei), bruises, etc. It is also used for the treatment of carbuncle, swollen boil and so on. Externally, it can be used to treat carbuncles and boils. Those who have an external infection and those who have a deficiency of yin and fire are forbidden to take sea dragon.
