Rhinitis headache at night may be related to nasal congestion, nasal dryness, local compression and other factors.
1. Nasal congestion: rhinitis may be due to mucosal hypertrophy, inflammatory edema and other factors leading to poor venous return of the turbinate, lying down at night due to gravity, blood stasis in the posterior segment of the inferior turbinate blockage of the posterior nostrils, resulting in nasal congestion, headache after the lack of oxygen to the brain tissue.
2. Nasal dryness: rhinitis can trigger nasal glands to reduce secretion, resulting in nasal dryness, especially at night, the body’s physiological secretion is reduced, further aggravating nasal dryness, sensory nerves are stimulated by inflammatory factors and cold air outside, can cause headaches.
3. Local compression: rhinitis is often characterized by hypertrophy of the inferior turbinate, slowing down blood circulation at night, stagnation of venous blood in the turbinate, and compression of the hypertrophied turbinate tissues on the surrounding tissues, resulting in a radiating headache.
When rhinitis patients headache at night, need to actively seek medical attention, systematic examination to clarify the diagnosis and etiology, follow the doctor’s instructions standardized treatment.
