The hazards of Silkworm Sand, Bamboo Roots and Chen Pi are not clear, and should be used in accordance with medical advice.
1. Silkworm sand has the efficacy of dispelling wind and removing dampness, harmonizing the stomach and transforming dampness, and is mainly used in treating wind-cold-dampness paralysis, hemiplegia (inability to move one side of the limb freely), vomiting and diarrhea and turning tendons (continuous muscle tension and stiffness after vomiting and diarrhea), rubella and eczema itching. Its toxic side effects are not clear, should not be used for liver and kidney deficiency, blood deficiency without honoring the lumbar and knee pain.
2. Bamboo Root has the efficacy of clearing heat and resolving phlegm, removing vexation and stopping vomiting. It can be used in the treatment of phlegm-heat cough, bile fire with phlegm, palpitations, insomnia, stroke, phlegm confusion, strong tongue, stomach heat and vomiting. Its toxic side effects are not clear, cold phlegm cough, stomach cold vomiting and diarrhea in the spleen is prohibited.
3. Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae has the effect of regulating qi and strengthening the spleen, drying dampness and resolving phlegm (expelling dampness and resolving phlegm by drying dampness). It is used for treating Qi stagnation in the spleen and stomach, vomiting, hiccups, damp phlegm, cold phlegm and coughing, and chest paralysis (tightness and pain in the chest). Its toxicity and side effects are not clear. Caution should be exercised in cases of qi deficiency, dry cough due to yin deficiency, vomiting of blood, and those with red tongue and little fluid, and solid internal heat.
