Is there a big difference between stage 3 and stage 4 ovarian cancer?

Stage III and stage IV ovarian cancer belong to the advanced stage of ovarian cancer, with certain difference in the scope of lesions, and the difference in prognosis and treatment plan is not very big, so it is necessary to consult a professional doctor to judge and diagnose according to the patient’s personal situation, and do not judge and deal with it on your own, so as to avoid delaying and aggravating the condition.
Stage III ovarian cancer is one side or both sides of ovarian tumors, with abdominal metastasis outside the pelvis and regional lymph node metastasis, liver surface metastasis, abdominal metastasis with a diameter of >2cm, or positive retroperitoneal regional lymph nodes. And stage IV ovarian cancer is based on stage III ovarian cancer with distant metastases beyond the abdominal cavity, including: liver, lung, supraclavicular lymph nodes, mediastinal lymph nodes and so on.
Both stage III and stage IV ovarian cancer belong to advanced lesions of ovarian cancer, and the prognosis of stage III ovarian cancer is relatively better than that of stage IV. The five-year survival rate of stage III ovarian cancer is higher than that of stage IV, but the overall prognosis is not good. The prognosis of ovarian cancer is generally related to the stage, histologic grading, age, physical condition and treatment modality, and the overall prognosis is relatively poor, easy to metastasis and recurrence.
There is not much difference in the treatment of advanced ovarian cancer, which may require tumor cytoreductive surgery, supplemented by radiation therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and so on. It is necessary for patients to choose appropriate treatment plan according to their specific conditions under the guidance of professional doctors.
After treatment, ovarian cancer patients should follow the doctor’s instruction and insist on regular follow-up, in order to find out the changes of the disease at an early stage and deal with it at an early stage.
