Positive antinuclear antibodies in pregnant women may affect the fetus, such as affecting fetal development and causing miscarriage.
Positive antinuclear antibodies generally indicate that a pregnant woman may be suffering from a rheumatologic or immunologic disorder. The full name of antinuclear antigen refers to anti-nucleic acid antigen antibody, which means that due to various reasons, the human body produces antibodies against RNA and DNA or other proteins in the cells, so it is positive, which is usually a sign of rheumatism and immunity diseases.
If a pregnant woman suffers from rheumatic immune system diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, dry syndrome, rheumatoid and other arthritis, then it may affect the development of the fetus, and at the same time, her own health needs to be treated with medication, which may also affect the development of the fetus.
However, a positive antinuclear antibody is not a complete diagnosis of the above mentioned diseases, it needs to be compared with the pregnant woman’s own physical condition as well as other clinical laboratory results. Therefore, pregnant women should undergo regular obstetric checkups during pregnancy, and if there is any abnormality, it is recommended that they seek medical attention in a timely manner.
