What to expect when mounting radiotherapy after cervical cancer

Preparation is needed in two aspects, including patient’s preparation and doctor’s preparation, before post-treatment radiotherapy for cervical cancer. 1. Patient preparation: Eat light and easy-to-digest food, avoid food that is easy to cause intestinal flatulence such as cow’s milk and soymilk, make sure to empty the bowels before each treatment, prepare a suitable vaginal douche in advance, and insist on daily vaginal douching until the end of the treatment in order to reduce the risk of vaginal infection and adhesion. 2. Doctor’s preparation: including pre-treatment physical examination, observation of the cervix and vagina, assessment of active bleeding, ulcers and fistulas, etc., preparation of insertion devices for posterior radiotherapy, formulation of specific posterior radiotherapy treatment plan in advance, positioning of the patient before posterior radiotherapy treatment, insertion of the applicator, and design of the radiotherapy plan. Post-loading radiotherapy is an important part of local radiotherapy for cervical cancer patients and plays a crucial role in the treatment of cervical cancer. If post-loading radiotherapy is needed, it is recommended to communicate with the attending physician and follow the doctor’s instruction to standardize the treatment.
