Do pituitary tumors often recur?

Pituitary tumor has some recurrence. If the pituitary tumor recurs frequently, it may be related to the following reasons: i. Incomplete removal of the pituitary tumor after surgery, so that the residual pituitary tumor tissue leads to its growth and recurrence. ii. Secondly, if the pituitary tumor shows invasive growth, the recurrence rate is relatively high. Thirdly, it is related to pituitary cell hyperplasia and multiple pituitary tumors. If the pituitary tumor recurs, the treatment is mainly based on surgical treatment, and it is recommended to carry out radiation therapy routinely after the surgery. If it is the third recurrence, surgery is the first choice for treatment, and radiotherapy is recommended immediately after surgery. Since pituitary tumors have a certain recurrence, in order to find out whether there is a recurrence of pituitary tumor at an early stage, so it is necessary to emphasize regular follow-up after surgery.
