Swimming can lower blood pressure, usually by 5-10mmHg or more with regular exercise. Swimming is a highly recommended activity that can lower blood pressure and patients are advised to be consistent. Hypertension guidelines recommend moderate-intensity exercise for 30 minutes or more at least 3-5 times per week, as long as the blood pressure is tolerable, to assist in lowering blood pressure, and swimming is one of those activities. Before exercise, patients are advised to measure their blood pressure, and exercise is not recommended if the blood pressure is higher than 160/100 mmHg, and only after the blood pressure is lowered. It is necessary to start with low-intensity exercise, gradually increase the amount of activity, pay attention to their own feelings during exercise, the heart rate should be lower than (170-age)/minute. If there is sudden dizziness or headache during exercise, take a break and measure your blood pressure.
