What’s going on with the newborn’s 10-day old umbilical cord leaking blood?

The cause of blood oozing from the umbilical cord of a 10-day-old newborn is considered to be related to the factor of umbilical infection.
For most newborns, the presence of blood oozing from the umbilical cord at 10 days after birth is an unusual manifestation and usually suggests that the newborn may have an umbilical cord infection. This is because bacteria invade and multiply from the umbilical cord stump, which causes blood seepage from the umbilical cord area. This is especially related to Staphylococcus aureus infections, and coupled with improper umbilical cord care, umbilical cord infections are easily triggered.
When umbilical cord infection occurs in newborns, there will be not only blood seepage from the umbilical cord, but also redness and swelling of the skin around the umbilical cord, plasma-purulent secretion from the umbilical fossa, accompanied by foul smell, and the newborns will also cry more than once because of the discomfort.
Newborns with umbilical cord blood seepage need to go to the hospital, cooperate with the doctor for examination, and give appropriate treatment and therapy.
