Does it hurt to wake up from a tracheal tube?

Typically, those who have a shorter, easier tracheal intubation are usually not in pain, while those who have a longer or more difficult intubation are prone to pain.

Tracheal intubation is the insertion of a thin tube into the patient’s airway with the aim of providing the patient with an adequate supply of oxygen. It is mainly used in two situations, one is the need for general anesthesia surgery and the other is the life support of critically ill patients.

In general anesthesia surgery, if the patient’s surgery lasts longer, or when the patient is more difficult to perform tracheal intubation, the patient will mostly appear after waking up throat discomfort, some patients will also appear to throat obvious pain, will generally be reduced with time.

However, in some patients, despite the short duration of the procedure and the smooth operation of tracheal intubation, some people may also experience mild pain and discomfort in the throat.

In critically ill patients, patients tend to adapt to tracheal intubation because of the prolonged tracheal intubation.

Patients are advised to consult their doctors for details if tracheal intubation is required.
