The cycle of prostatitis treatment varies depending on the type of prostatitis, usually around 1~2 weeks for acute. Chronic is around 4~6 weeks.
1. Most acute bacterial prostatitis has an upstream infection from the urethra. The causative organisms are mostly gram-negative bacilli. The most common is Escherichia coli.
General treatment with quinolones such as ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin or cephalosporin, tobramycin and so on. Use a full course of treatment and full dose. Generally 1~2 weeks can achieve the effect of killing germs.
2. Chronic prostatitis is usually caused by Escherichia coli, but also by chlamydia, mycoplasma, fungi and other infections. As the lipid-like membrane of the prostate epithelium can prevent a variety of antibiotics from entering the follicles, the course of treatment for this disease is longer, up to 4~6 weeks, and it is difficult to cure. It is usually treated with erythromycin and doxycycline.
The specific course of treatment cycle also need to go to the regular hospital for consultation, not blindly taking drugs.
