Deep lamellar transplantation for fungal keratitis is safe and reliable

Fungal keratitis has a high incidence during the busy farming season, and because of the lack of effective medications, treatment is difficult and many patients end up with perforated eyes, resulting in blindness. Even if they are fortunate enough to have a penetrating corneal transplant, they are highly susceptible to postoperative immune rejection and blindness. In fact, many patients can undergo deep lamellar corneal transplantation if they are seen early enough. Patients have little to no rejection after this procedure, and complications rarely occur after a successful surgery.
