Efficacy of febuxostat drugs

At present, there are two major categories of drugs for the treatment of elevated uric acid in China: drugs that promote the excretion of uric acid, such as benzbromarone; and drugs that inhibit the production of uric acid, the most representative one being allopurinol. Febuxostat is a new type of uric acid-lowering drug, and its mechanism of action is similar to that of allopurinol, mainly inhibiting xanthinase, which in turn inhibits the production of uric acid. It has less side effects on liver and kidney function, especially for patients with moderate renal insufficiency. Patients with a strict low purine diet, gout can achieve very good treatment results.
