When should babies take DHA

It is recommended that infants over 6 months of age can take dietary supplement of DHA.
DHA is an essential unsaturated fatty acid, which is involved in brain development, and can be normally consumed in normal breast milk and deep-sea fish. Therefore, for infants under 6 months of age, normal breastfeeding or formula feeding can satisfy the growth and developmental needs of infants, and there is no need for additional DHA supplementation.
With the increase of age, the body demand increases, infants after 6 months, can be appropriate amount of dietary supplementation of DHA, in order to meet the needs of growth and development.
General dietary supplementation can meet the baby’s DHA needs, do not use DHA preparations to supplement DHA without authorization, so as not to oversupplementation affect the child’s health. Additional DHA supplementation should be decided by a specialist at a doctor’s consultation, and should be taken correctly under the doctor’s guidance.
