P4 is progesterone?

Progesterone (P4), also known as progesterone, is a natural progestin secreted by the ovarian corpus luteum. The endometrium, which has been stimulated by estrogen, is significantly affected by its morphology, and it is a hormone that is necessary for the maintenance of pregnancy and plays a role in the regulation of the menstrual cycle.

Progesterone levels gradually increase after a woman becomes pregnant to maintain the pregnancy. Decreased progesterone levels can be seen in conditions such as preeclampsia, ectopic pregnancy, amenorrhea, preterm labor, and impaired adrenal function.

Progesterone can be used to artificially regulate the menstrual cycle, but may have side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and breast tenderness, and is a prescription medication that needs to be used under medical supervision.
