Bran fried yam tonifies the spleen and strengthens the stomach, and is used for spleen deficiency with little food, diarrhea and loose stools (thin and unformed feces), and excessive leucorrhea.
The medicinal source of fried yam with bran is the dried rhizome of Dioscorea spp. It is a concoction of yam, which is made by taking slices of hairy yam or light yam, and frying them until yellow according to the method of fried yam with bran.
Yam is mainly used to nourish the spleen and stomach, promote the production of fluid and lungs, tonify the kidney and astringe the essence, and is used for spleen deficiency with little food, prolonged diarrhea, lung deficiency with wheezing and coughing, kidney deficiency with spermatorrhea, diarrhea, dysuria, deficiency of heat and thirst, and so on.
Bran fried yam can enhance the effect of yam in tonifying the spleen and stopping diarrhea, clinically used in the treatment of spleen deficiency with little food, loose diarrhea, excessive leucorrhea and other conditions. Yam should not be used by people with dampness (too much dampness causing fullness and discomfort in the spleen and stomach) or with stagnation.
