A white particle in the eye may be a fatty granule or a conjunctival stone. Fatty grains, due to metabolic imbalance and excessive oil secretion, lead to lid conjunctival stones that are mostly asymptomatic and only cause a foreign body sensation when the stone protrudes from the conjunctival surface, are white in color, and are accompanied by chronic conjunctivitis, trachoma, and chronic blepharitis, etc. They usually occur at the lid conjunctiva and may be found on both the upper and lower lids, and usually have no obvious symptoms and do not need to be treated for the time being. If there is a significant foreign body sensation and grinding pain, most of the stones are protruding from the conjunctival surface and should be considered for stone removal. After stone removal, in order to prevent recurrence and prevent infection, daily antibiotic eye drops should be ordered to treat the primary cause, such as chronic conjunctivitis or other blepharitis.
